Absolutely. If it wasn't for the consumers, we wouldn't have the Internet, we wouldn't have the iPods, we wouldn't have mobile phones, we wouldn't have HD TV, games consoles. If I'm concentrating too much on the technology, then how about this for a change....we wouldn't have such high demand for healthier, non-artificially etc foods and drinks, comfortable shoes, designer glasses.
I could probably go on for a long time (and probably write a book about it), but the morale of the story is that consumers can drastically alter the market and the world. It is their demand which makes all the companies to step it up a notch and meet their needs. After all, isn't that what business is all about...meeting the customers' needs and adapting to the market. If you don't do that, you're pretty much screwed. More importantly, if you don't do that, then what's the point of being in business.
